Course Overview

This 4-month clinical research mentoring program is for Emory faculty based at Grady. This program will provide resources, information and tools to develop clinical research projects. The course will have didactic sessions paired with mentoring and networking. Participants will have the opportunity to be paired with experienced faculty as mentors, with the specific goal of working through some of the hurdles to getting started on clinical research projects.

Applications for this course are currently closed.

Learning Objectives

  • Develop clinical research skills identified by participants
  • Develop a strong network of peers with similar interests in research to facilitate sharing and learning
  • Engage faculty across different departments and foster collegiality
  • Establish a strong effective mentoring relationship with a senior faculty who will serve as a mentor for the duration of the program
  • Identify and tackle hurdles specific to Emory at Grady clinical research

Eligibility

Emory University School of Medicine junior faculty primarily based at Grady.

Content

  • Tailored didactic sessions on topics relevant to the performance of clinical research on the Grady campus
  • Project check-in with peers and mentors to discuss ongoing research endeavors

Time Commitment

This course is comprised of eight in-person sessions. Sessions will meet on select Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sessions will be held on the Grady campus. Faculty accepted to the program are expected to attend at least 6 of 8 sessions.

Junior faculty accepted into the program will be required to have a mentor, and a preliminary research idea prior to entry into the program. Participants may choose their mentors independently or be paired with one within the program. Prior to the program beginning, participants will be surveyed for their specific needs – and the didactics program will be tailored accordingly.

There is no cost for this program.
