Emory Health Proud How belatacept helps save lives

Transplantation is a marvel of modern medicine. The drug belatacept offers tremendous benefits for kidney transplant recipients for its ability to preserve the function of the kidney in the long-term. Due in large part to the infrastructure Emory provides to develop and test new therapies, the Emory Transplant Center and National Primate Center played key roles in making belatacept available to patients worldwide. According to Chris Larsen, director of the Emory Transplant Center, "the spirit of collaboration is what makes these things possible."
