Differentiating Topics: Assuming the leadership mantle of a faculty member, navigating power dynamics, maintaining personal and professional balance

Jr. Faculty Development Course (JFDC)
Objective: To prepare faculty for success in an academic medical center.
Who Should Participate: Any instructor or assistant professor in the School of Medicine.
Differentiating Topics: Organizational Structure and SOM Finances, Crucial Conversations, Presentation Skills, Teaching, Manuscript Writing, Funding your Research, Leadership Skills, Promotions and Tenure process.
Length: Nine 3-hour sessions
When: Annually Sept-May

Advancing Success through Coaching, Equity, Networking, and Development (ASCEND) Program
Objective: Develops skills crucial for thriving in an academic environment and emphasizes the value of contributions from all faculty, including those historically under-represented.
Who Should Participate: All Emory School of Medicine faculty are eligible to apply.
Differentiating Topics: Interactive workshops and seminars, senior coaching, reflective learning, peer mentoring, leadership coaching, and a career development project goal.
Length: Eight sessions held 2-3 times per month
When: Biannually August-December

Emory Professional Leadership Enrichment and Development Program (EM-ProLEAD)
Objective: To enrich leadership skills, enhance business knowledge, and promote collaborative efforts across Emory Healthcare, School of Medicine, and affiliated institutions.
Who Should Participate: Emory School of Medicine faculty and/or Emory Healthcare professionals, including nurses and administrative leadership.
Differentiating Topics: Leadership Development, Conflict Negotiation, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Strategic Decision Making and Operations.
Length: Nine half-day sessions

Pathways to Leadership Excellence
Objective: To strengthen the network among faculty members, enhance leadership skills and career development, and empower faculty to assume and excel in leadership positions.
Who Should Participate: Emory School of Medicine faculty with more than 6 years as assistant professor, associate professor, and/or recently promoted professors.
Differentiating Topics: Communication styles, executive presence, fiscal responsibility, conflict management, and pathways to leadership.
Length: Eight 3-hour in-person sessions
When: Annually Sept-April

Emory at Grady Health Equity Advocacy Course
Objective: To train a cohort of engaged health professionals, learners, and community members in advocacy skills around issues related to vulnerable populations.
Who Should Participate: All faculty in the School of Medicine are eligible to apply.
Differentiating Topics: Finding Partners and Building Collaborations for the Community, Demystifying Legislative Advocacy, Advocacy Communication, Institutional Advocacy.
Length: Eight sessions held 1 or 2 times monthly
When: Biannually Oct-March

Woodruff Leadership Academy
Objective: To help WHSC professionals and managers further advance leadership skills and develop effective future leaders for WHSC.
Who Should Participate: Members of the WHSC Community
Differentiating Topics: Negotiations, Influence without Authority, Conflict Management, Talent Management, Leading Organizational Change, Strategic Thinking, Authentic Leadership, Social Capital/Emotional Intelligence, Finance for the Leader, Professional Communications.
Length: Eight sessions
When: September-April
Enrollment: Submit projects for consideration from April to June
