Yolanda Hood
Assistant Dean, Student Success and Multicultural Affairs
Dr. Yolanda Hood serves as the Assistant Dean of Student Success and Multicultural Affairs. She is also the Co-Principal Investigator and Director of the National HCOP Academy at Emory. Dr. Hood earned her bachelor’s degree in Health Promotions & Behaviors from The University of Georgia and received her master’s and doctoral degrees from Mercer University in Technology Management and Educational Leadership, respectively.
Dr. Hood has 20 years of experience in medical education learner support. Her research interest centers on addressing the disparity of racial/ethnic representation in the health professions workforce, specifically examining the facilitators and barriers to successful entry into health profession education programs for students of color, and the K-12 academic achievement gap associated with students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Dr. Hood also serves on the Emory School of Medicine Executive Committee on Organizational Inclusion and is the advisor for the Emory Chapter of the Student National Medical Association.
