The Emory Pipeline Collaborative (EPiC) summer experience improves academic achievement and college readiness. EPiC's rising juniors and rising seniors will participate in coursework, career seminars, mentoring, and social activities to assist students with the following:
SAT Preparation & Practice - Rising Junior Ambassadors participate in an intensive SAT Preparation course offered by a local test preparation professional. Students will participate in a Pre-Test, Post-Test, and be given areas for continued study to maximize scores.
Simulated Clinical Experiences - Rising seniors will experience simulated clinical exposure and hands on activities in a safe and controlled environment. Student will interact with standardized patients, and simulators to practice clinical skills. Students will also participate in workshops, like suturing and basic life skills training that give students exposure to some common medical procedures.
Presentations from medical health professionals - Professionals representing several fields of healthcare volunteer their time to provide demonstrations and conduct Q&A sessions with our EPiC students. Information from these professionals will be added to the student’s portfolio of possible careers.
College and Career Portfolio – Each student will be supported in creating and editing a portfolio of documents that will be handy in helping the students in the college and scholarship application process.
College and healthcare facility tours – EPiC Seniors will visit serval local educational and healthcare facilities to compare the learning and work conditions. This information will hopefully help the students understand which types of facilities would be their best fit.
Soft Skills Advisement and Support - Each Summer we employ a team of caring graduate and professional school students to work with our students as Summer Program Advisors. These individuals are tasks with keeping the students safe throughout their activities and advise students on the “Soft Skills” that go into student success.
