We invite any eligible student from the participating schools (see Eligibility Criteria below) to apply in the fall of their sophomore year. Accepted students will participate in EPiC for three consecutive years, including academic year and summer commitments.

- Greater awareness of pathways to different health professions
- Increased confidence in becoming a successful health professional
- Additional academic preparation for college including skills and strategies for success
- Greater social and emotional readiness for college by increasing knowledge and self-confidence in the admissions and financial aid process
- Development of a college application portfolio
- Summer SAT preparation class
- Exposure to clinical skills simulations
- Visits to local colleges and health care facilities
Eligibility Criteria
- Enrolled at Carver STEAM, Douglass, Jackson, South Atlanta, or Washington High School
- Eligible for Free/Reduced Lunch program
- Current sophomore with at least a 3.0 GPA, enrolled in at least one honors, AP or IB course, or demonstrated potential.
- Interested in a career in health care
- Commitment to actively participate in 12 after school sessions during Spring Semester AND Summer Institutes before Junior and Senior years.
Admissions Process
- Attend fall info session at your school
- Complete online application
- Submit letter of recommendation and transcript by the deadline
- Interview with EPiC administrators
- Notification of acceptance will occur before Thanksgiving.
How to Apply
There are three parts to the application. Applicants must submit all three parts by the deadline in order to be considered:
Part I: Online Application
Complete the online application form and be prepared to respond to three essay prompts. NOTE: The application CANNOT be saved and resumed later. We recommend that you prepare your essays before beginning the online application and then cut/paste your responses into the form. Your application will require a response (not to exceed 300 words) to EACH of the following prompts.
- Does your academic record accurately reflect your ability? Please explain.
- Why are you interested in a health-related career?
Choose one of the following prompts:
- Who is your personal role model? Why and how do they inspire you?
- What is the greatest obstacle that you have had to overcome? What did you learn from this experience and how has it shaped your self-identity?
Part II: Letter of Recommendation
E-mail one letter of recommendation from a school official, teacher, or guidance counselor to epicprogram@emory.edu Letter should address student's academic potential, character, and interest in healthcare.
Part III: Transcript
E-mail an unofficial, school-generated copy of your most recent high school transcript (inclusive of all current course work), in .pdf format, to epicprogram@emory.edu
