The Churchwell Collective is a resident-run organization born out of the desire to cultivate a safe and welcoming environment for internal medicine housestaff from all backgrounds.
The Collective aims to foster a culture of camaraderie, championing efforts within advocacy, recruitment/retention, and professional development, with the goal of building an inclusive resident body to better serve the greater Atlanta community. The Churchwell Collective is open to all residents.
What We Do
The group works within the Emory Internal Medicine Residency Program to:
- Host residency-wide social and networking events around themes of diversity and inclusion
- Advocate for system level changes through residency curricular reform, voter registration, and advocacy campaigns
- Serve the Greater Atlanta Area through direct volunteer work and community outreach
- Assist the IM residency program with recruitment of applicants
- Works to foster a close relationship between the Emory and the Morehouse Internal Medicine Program
- Participates in the Department of Medicine's Community and Engagement Council
