Our Leadership

Carlos del Rio, MD, MACP, FIDSA, has served as chair of the Department of Medicine since 2024. As the first graduate of our residency program to hold this position, Dr. del Rio has been a resident, a researcher, an educator, a clinician, and a strategic leader within the department and the School of Medicine, as well as for the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory at Grady, the Woodruff Health Sciences Center, and the entire University.

The Department of Medicine is home to more than 900 diverse faculty members who are leaders in research, education, and patient care. Our faculty span 10 internal medicine divisions and work in different clinical and research settings across the metro Atlanta area and beyond.
