Program Details
The Emory University School of Medicine Department of Emergency Medicine's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) International Fellowship Program trains foreign emergency medicine physicians in the field of prehospital and disaster medicine. The international EMS fellows study alongside the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) EMS fellows, and the international EMS fellowship is flexible to ensure a fulfilling experience while in the United States.
While in the United States on the J-1 visa, direct patient care is not allowed; however, the international EMS fellow will be expected to observe and assist with patient care in the field and on EMS scenes. The international EMS fellow will fully participate in education and training, didactic and experiential learning, and operational meetings. When the program concludes, the international EMS fellow will receive a certificate of completion.
Application materials (listed below) must be received prior to interview scheduling. Interviews are held via video conference.

Emory does not provide salary, benefits, or any other type of compensation for participation in the International EMS Fellowship Program. Applicants are expected to designate a sponsor for their J-1 visa, and must be prepared to pay for tuition, fees, housing, insurance, and transportation.
