Message from the Division Director

As the Director of the Gynecologic Oncology Division within the Emory University Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, I am honored to lead a team dedicated to advancing the care and treatment of women with gynecologic malignancies. Our division is committed to compassionate, holistic, evidence-based care, pioneering research, and educating the next generation of specialists in the field.
At Emory, we are uniquely positioned within the Winship Cancer Institute, the only National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Georgia. Our team of fellowship-trained and board-certified (or board-eligible) gynecologic oncologists provides expert, multidisciplinary care at Emory University Hospital, Grady Memorial Hospital, Emory University Hospital Midtown, Emory Decatur Hospital, and Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Our clinical mission is to offer patients the most advanced treatment options available, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgeries, cutting-edge therapies, and access to novel clinical trials. We are deeply committed to innovation in cancer treatment, actively participating in the conduct and design of clinical trials and basic & translational research that help shape the future of gynecologic cancer care.
As a physician-scientist, my passion lies in both providing exceptional patient care and advancing breakthroughs in gynecologic oncology. My research has focused on early detection and prevention strategies in ovarian cancer, understanding the cellular changes early during cancer development and understanding what drives them so that we can improve patient outcomes through personalized medicine and targeted therapies. As a Division, we will continue to build upon the strong foundation established by Dr. Modesitt and foster collaboration between clinicians, researchers, and educators to push the boundaries of what is possible in gynecologic oncology.
Cancer is a deeply personal journey, and our team is here to walk alongside our patients and their families with unwavering dedication. We believe in a patient-centered approach that prioritizes quality of life, innovative treatments, and holistic support throughout the cancer journey.
I look forward to continuing our mission of excellence in patient care, research, and education. I welcome you to reach out for consultation, collaboration, or simply to learn more about the work we do.
With gratitude,
Jennifer Scalici, MDDivision Director,
