Fellowship opportunities are also available in the department for obstetrician-gynecologists who desire more in-depth training in family planning, pelvic surgery, and colposcopy and anoscopy.
The focus in each of these competitive fellowship programs is to help trainees gain the knowledge, skills, and experience to become clinical experts in their specialty and productive investigators in the field of women's health.
ACGME Accredited Programs
Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery
The Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship provides diverse clinical, research, and teaching opportunities in female urology, urogynecology, colorectal surgery, and minimally invasive surgery. The program also provides extensive training in the diagnosis, evaluation, and non-surgical management of female pelvic floor disorders. There are opportunities to participate in clinical, basic science, and/or translational research projects related to female pelvic floor disorders. Opportunities to gain exposure in geriatrics and pelvic floor physical therapy are also available. There is an opportunity to pursue a Master of Science in Clinical Research.
The two-year (for urologists) or three-year (for OB-GYNs) fellowship accepts one fellow annually.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine
The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship prepares graduates of residencies in obstetrics and gynecology for a lifelong academic career in clinical perinatology (the management of medical, surgical and obstetrical complications of pregnancy and high-risk pregnancies), teaching/education and research.
The three-year fellowship accepts one fellow annually.
Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
The Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship trains obstetrician-gynecologists in reproductive endocrinology and infertility with an emphasis on academic career development. The course of study includes clinical experience in pediatric and adult gynecological endocrinology, medical and surgical treatment of infertility, advanced reproductive technology, and a rigorous investigative program in reproductive biology. Many fellows pursue a Masters degree in Clinical Research during the course of their training.
The three-year fellowship accepts one fellow annually.
Complex Family Planning
The Ryan Family Planning Fellowship prepares obstetrician-gynecologists for a career focused on clinical research and the provision of family planning services. It provides high-level clinical and research skills in family planning services. The program is devoted to formal study of clinical trial methods as well as developing skills in technical aspects of all methods of abortion and contraception.
The two-year fellowship accepts one fellow annually.
Gynecologic Oncology
The Gynecologic Oncology fellowship at Emory University offers a comprehensive curriculum encompassing the full spectrum of gynecologic cancers. This includes diverse clinical, research, and teaching experiences in preventing, diagnosing, treating, and managing gynecologic malignancies to ensure our graduates achieve excellence.
