What is a Radiologic Technologist?
Radiologic technologists, or radiographers, specialize in using X-rays to create images of the body. They perform diagnostic procedures, including imaging the skeletal system, chest and abdomen, and assist with more specialized procedures like myelography and arthrography.
Program Overview
The Emory School of Medicine Radiologic Technology Program (SOM RT Certificate Program) offers a 24-month, full-time certification program. The program is located at Emory Decatur Hospital, which operates as an off-campus instructional site for Emory School of Medicine. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with occasional evening clinical rotations (about two to three evenings per month)
Graduates are eligible to take the ARRT exam and, upon passing, become registered technologists in radiography, R.T. (R).

Please note: Emory University offers various medical imaging programs, including a certificate program for those pursuing a career as radiologic technologists, a bridge program for current RTs to earn a Bachelor of Medical Science degree and residency programs for physicians.
