Program Director

J'nai Coles, MSEd, LAT, ATC, OTC
J’nai serves as the Program Director. In addition to these duties, she also serves as the AT Manager of the Emory Sports Medicine Complex, supporting 8 sports medicine physicians, 10 full-time Athletic Trainers, and a Medical Assistant. J’nai completed the Athletic Training Residency program in the class of 2014-15, after which time, she was hired by Emory Orthopaedics to support Dr. Michael Gottschalk, a hand and upper extremity surgeon. She remained in that position for 2 years before being promoted to Clinic Lead of The Emory Sports Medicine clinic in Smyrna, GA. She was appointed as the Program Director in 2018. In that role, she provides programmatic oversight, mentorship, and maintains CAATE accreditation. J’nai obtained her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Florida. She then went on to obtain her Master of Science in Education in Athletic Training from Old Dominion University. Prior to her time at Emory, J’nai worked as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
Currently, J’nai volunteers as a member of the Residency and Fellowship Accreditation Council for the CAATE. She also serves as a section editor for Clinical Practice in Athletic Training. J'nai lives with her wife, Kristin, son Langston, and two dogs, Tyson and Cal. In her free time, she enjoys trying out new restaurants, going to festivals, and travelling.
Core AT Faculty

Brian Baer, MA, LAT, ATC, OT-SC
Brian serves as the surgical athletic trainer to Dr. Sameh Labib. He was hired by Emory Sports Medicine to support Dr. Labib in 2016. She obtained her Bachelor degree at the University of Southern Mississippi in 2008 and went on to the University of Central Florida for his graduate education. Prior to his time at Emory, Brian worked as both an assistant and head athletic trainer at Oglethorpe University. He began his professional caree at Young Harris College and continued on to complete a graduate assistantship at UCF while pursuing his graduate degree.
In his free time, Brian enjoys traveling to experience unique outdoor landscapes. He also likes to push himself physically and mentally with hobbies such as hiking, biking, and bouldering. His favorite food is pizza and he loves to do it all with his wife, Laine.

Megan East, MA, LAT, ATC, OT-SC
Megan serves as the surgical athletic trainer to Dr. Kyle Hammond. Megan completed the Athletic Training Residency Program in the Class of 2012-13, after which time she was hired by Emory Sports Medicine to support Dr. Hammond full time. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training at the University of Florida and went on to the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill for her graduate education. Prior to her time at Emory, Megan worked as an assistant athletic trainer at Indiana University for several years, covering swimming and diving.
She has remained a part of the residency program while working at Emory, further developing the didactic learning program, as well as working alongside former residency program directors to achieve initial CAATE accreditation. Megan volunteers as a manuscript reviewer for Clinical Practice in Athletic Training. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, watching movies, going to concerts and listening to live music.

Kodi Morgan, MS, ATC, OT-SC
Kodi serves as the surgical athletic trainer to Dr. John Xerogeanes. She attended Mercyhurst University for her undergraduate education and ventured on to Georgia State University for her graduate education. After school she worked for a year at a PT clinic and high school. She completed the Athletic Training Residency Program at The Steadman Clinic in 2001. Upon completion of her residency program, Kodi worked as a surgical athletic trainer with Dr. Robert Karsch at University Orthopaedics and Premier Orthopaedics.
In her free time, she enjoys participating alongside and volunteering for her sons’ extracurricular activities like sports and scouts. She also enjoys hiking, working out, and hanging out with her rescue mutt, Mack. Her favorite sports to watch are the ones that her sons play.

Brooke Torres, MS, LAT, ATC, OT-SC
Brooke serves as the surgical athletic trainer to Dr. Spero Karas. Brooke completed the Emory Athletic Training Residency Program in the Class of 2018-19 and has worked as an athletic trainer at Emory since 2017. Brooke graduated from Georgia State University with a Master of Science in Sports Medicine in 2017, following two years served as a graduate assistant for Georgia State's athletic teams. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training at Georgia College & State University in 2015.
In her free time, Brooke enjoys art, exploring Atlanta restaurants and bars with friends, family time, and hanging out with her dog Basil.
