What is academic internal medicine?
The Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) developed an overarching mission stating that their ultimate goal is to transform health care delivery so it meets the needs of our patients, communities, and society, while providing a meaningful and enjoyable career for all members of the health care team.
Specifically, the mission of academic general internal medicine is to lead excellence, change, and innovation in clinical care, education, and research to achieve healthcare delivery that:
- Is longitudinal, comprehensive, technologically advanced, and individualized
- Instills trust within a culture of respect
- Is efficient in the use of time, people, and resources
- Is organized and financed to achieve optimal health outcomes
- Maximizes equity
- Continually learns and adapts

Emory AIM Center Leadership
The AIM Center’s leadership team includes the positions of Co-Director, Director of Program Operations and Finance, three Assistant Directors, and three Site Leads. The Center’s Co-Directors oversee all operations of the AIM Center. Each of the three Assistant Directors oversees a specific AIM Center portfolio (research, education, clinical operations). Our Division and Center leadership has extensive collective experience in research, scholarship, education, and clinical service. Separate Site Leaders are dedicated to overseeing the operation and cohesion of each of the Center’s three clinic sites (1365 Clifton, Midtown, and 1525 Clifton).

The Paul W. Seavey Comprehensive Internal Medicine Clinic, located at 1365 Clifton Rd., is home to The Seavey Primary Care Clinic, Emory Executive Health Center, and Emory Special Diagnostic Services.
Dr. David Roberts is the Site Lead.
