The Structural Heart and Valve Disease program at Emory University is offering a one-year, non-ACGME accredited advanced imaging fellowship to individuals who have graduated from an ACGME-accredited cardiology fellowship program. Fellows will be trained in the evaluation, management, and procedural guidance of structural heart procedures, gaining expertise in multimodality imaging techniques used in evaluating structural heart disease including TTE, TEE, advanced 3D TEE imaging, and structural CT for procedure planning. Experience will include the evaluation and guidance of procedures including:

Transseptal puncture

Transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacement (TMVr and TMVR) including MitraClip, valve in valve, valve in ring, valve in MAC, as well as investigational mitral devices

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
-
Transcatheter tricuspid valve repair and replacement
-
Balloon mitral and aortic valvuloplasty
-
Left atrial appendage closure
-
Percutaneous paravalvular leak closure
-
Percutaneous PFO, ASD and VSD closure
-
Novel procedures such as BASILICA and LAMPOON
At the end of the training, the fellow will have obtained COCATS Level III competency in echocardiography and cardiac CT. Additionally, the fellow can gain experience in cardiac MRI with additional training.

Compensation: PGY-7 salary, benefits (health care, dental) and three weeks of vacation

Prerequisite: Completion of a three-year general cardiology fellowship at an ACGME accredited program, COCATS Level II echo, COCATS Level I cardiac CT (Level II preferred)
*Non-ACGME hires will be hired as “instructors, associates or senior associates” through Emory University School of Medicine. This results in the signing of a two-year, 25-mile non-compete clause as part of the contract. A full Georgia license will be required.
Duties and Responsibilities

Imaging: Fellows will work alongside experienced structural heart/interventional imagers in the pre-procedural diagnosis and procedural planning, intraprocedural guidance and monitoring of complications, and finally in the short- and long-term follow up.

Heart Team: Participate in weekly multidisciplinary heart team meetings

Inpatient service: Participate in the management of structural heart patients on the dedicated structural heart inpatient service, with the support of PAs and NPs

Clinic: Attend a weekly combination clinic with an structural interventionalist and cardiac surgeon to evaluate new patients

Research: Participate in clinical research being performed by the structural heart team. If presenting at a conference, expenses will be covered by the Emory structural heart program.
