Churchwell Diversity & Inclusion Collective

The Churchwell Diversity & Inclusion Collective (CDIC) named after Dr. André Churchwell, the first black IM Chief Resident at Emory, advocates for matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion at the resident level. The CDIC hosts a series of professional development and networking programs on a monthly basis. Members also serve on the department's DEI Council. This group is open to all Emory residents.
LGBTQIA+ Affinity Group

Goals
- To support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts by helping to promote and maintain a supportive work environment for all employees and trainees who identify as or are allies for LGBT persons.
- To identify barriers and facilitators to creating a supportive work environment for LGBT employees and trainees.
- To create opportunities to 1) build social connections, 2) disseminate pertinent resources available at Emory, and 3) build a supportive and open work environment for critical feedback related to workplace safety.
This group is open to all Department of Medicine faculty, staff, and learners.
RYSE Research Affinity Group

Goals
- To support DOM efforts to attract and retain talented health equity investigators
- To promote training and support among health equity researchers
- To encourage diversity and inclusion at all levels of research

RYSE Outstanding Scientific Citation Award
The RYSE Outstanding Scientific Citation Award supports and recognizes rising health equity researchers producing outstanding publications in all research areas, including basic, clinical, public health, health services, and health equity. This award is given annually at Health Equity Day. Read more.
Increasing Diversity Supplements
NIH diversity supplements give funding to support minority trainees and faculty to research careers. The funding supports trainees and faculty to work on an existing NIH-funded project in a particular area of interest. Read more.

Faculty Resource Groups offer safe spaces for faculty, staff, and learners who share an identity, such as a common race or heritage, to discuss mutual concerns and help each other navigate the medical school and clinical settings.
