To improve healthcare access outside of the Atlanta area, the Kathelen and Dan Amos Medical Student Loan Forgiveness program: Improving Access to Primary Care in Georgia offers differential payments to qualifying Amos Scholars.
Award recipients who practice in a non-metropolitan area for one year qualify for an additional $40,000. Interested parties are encouraged to contact us via email (primarycare@emory.edu) to receive more detail.
Defining 'Non-Metro'
This program defines non-metropolitan (non-metro) areas using USDA's Rural-Urban Continuum Codes (2013). We consider counties with a RUCC of 2 or more as non-metro. To receive the differential payment, scholars must choose to practice in a county with a code of 2 or more for a minimum of one year.
