Interrupting Violence in Youth and Young Adults (IVYY) Project

Dr. Randi Smith launched the Interrupting Violence in Youth and Young Adults (IVYY) Project at Grady Health System in January 2023. IVYY offers comprehensive trauma-informed, therapeutic care to people between the ages of 14-34 who have been gunshot. IVYY features credible messengers, or Violence Intervention Specialists (VIs), who are embedded in the hospital and connect with patients at their bedside to provide immediate support through peer-led mentorship, coaching, and advocacy throughout their healing process.

Motherhood Beyond Bars

Motherhood Beyond Bars' mission is to improve the holistic health of incarcerated pregnant women and new mothers. We are working to achieve this goal through postpartum health education and counseling, childbirth education, and prenatal yoga, all of which were developed from the ground up for the incarcerated population.

WellStart Initiative

WellStart Initiatives is a non-profit organization founded by Brittany Prince in 2014, originally named WellStart. In 2015, it was rebranded to its current name, WellStart Initiatives. The organization was born out of Brittany's realization that her local hospital ranked among the Top 25 worst hospitals in the United States in 2012. This finding led her to investigate the health statistics of her city and county, revealing significant disparities compared to state and national averages. Determined to make a difference, Brittany established WellStart Initiatives to address these health disparities and promote positive change in her community.
