Mother's Against Gang Violence

ADMIN ASSISTANT

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support our team in achieving our mission. As an Administrative Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our organization by providing administrative and clerical support. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to deliver essential services to individuals and families affected by gun violence and those seeking reintegration into society.

Responsibilities:

1. Office Management:

Maintain a well-organized and efficient office environment. Manage office supplies, equipment, and inventory.

2. Administrative Support:

Assist in scheduling and coordinating meetings, appointments, and events. Prepare and distribute internal and external correspondence, emails, and reports. Maintain accurate and up-to-date organizational records and files.

3. Communication:

Serve as the first point of contact for inquiries via phone, email, and in-person visits.

Liaise with team members, partners, and stakeholders, ensuring timely and effective communication.

4. Data Entry and Record Keeping:

Enter data into the organization's database, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Assist in maintaining participant records, case files, and program statistics.

5. Program Support:

Assist program managers in scheduling workshops, training sessions, and support groups.

Help prepare materials for programs and events.

6. Donor and Grant Support:

Assist in donor and grant management tasks, including acknowledgment letters and reporting requirements. Collaborate with the fundraising team on donor communication and stewardship efforts.

7. Financial Administration:

Support the finance department with basic bookkeeping tasks such as expense tracking and receipts. Assist in processing invoices and reimbursements.

8. Special Projects:

Participate in ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the executive team. Contribute to the continuous improvement of organizational processes and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
  • Proven experience in administrative support roles.
  • Proficiency in office software (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, etc.).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Compassion and understanding of the issues related to recidivism and gun violence.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Mother’s Against Gang Violence Nonprofit.


Position Type:

This is a full-time position based in our Atlanta office. Some occasional evening or weekend work may be required for special events or projects.

FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Specialist to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of families in low-income communities. As a Family Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing essential resources, guidance, and advocacy to families facing various challenges. Your empathy, interpersonal skills, and ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds will be essential in helping families navigate difficult circumstances and work towards achieving stability and self-sufficiency.

Responsibilities:

1. Family Needs Assessment:
Conduct thorough assessments of families' unique needs, strengths, and challenges through one-on-one interviews and discussions. Collaborate with families to identify short and long-term goals for improving their living conditions, financial stability, and overall well-being.

2. Resource Referral and Coordination:
Connect families with available community resources such as food assistance, housing support, healthcare services, education programs, and job training opportunities. Maintain an up-to-date database of local service providers and resources to ensure accurate and efficient referrals.

3. Case Management:
Develop personalized action plans for families that outline steps to address their specific needs and goals. Monitor families' progress and provide ongoing support through regular check-ins, one-on-one sessions, and goal reassessment.

4. Advocacy and Empowerment:
Serve as an advocate for families within the community, helping them navigate systems and overcome barriers to accessing essential services. Empower families by providing them with information, tools, and skills to make informed decisions and take control of their own situations.

5. Workshops and Group Sessions:
Facilitate workshops, support groups, and informational sessions for families on topics such as budgeting, parenting skills, emotional regulation, job readiness, trauma awareness and stress management.

6. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and confidential records of all interactions, assessments, and progress notes related to each family. Generate regular reports on program outcomes, challenges, and success stories for management and funding purposes.

7. Collaborative Partnerships:
Collaborate with other social service agencies, educational institutions, and community organizations to enhance the range and quality of support available to families.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience working with diverse families in low-income or underserved communities.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by families in low-income areas and the ability to approach them with sensitivity and cultural competence.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Empathetic and nonjudgmental approach to working with individuals from various backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using computer software and databases for record-keeping and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

PROJECT MANAGER

Organization: Mother’s Against Gang Violence

Location: Atlanta, Ga.

1. Project Planning and Development:
Collaborate with the executive team to identify project goals, objectives, and outcomes aligned with the organization's mission. Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk assessments.

2. Project Execution:
Lead cross-functional project teams to ensure the successful implementation of programs and initiatives. Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators, and proactively address issues and challenges. Manage project budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and ensure adherence to financial guidelines.

3. Stakeholder Engagement:
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including partner organizations, government agencies, and community leaders. Facilitate communication and collaboration among project stakeholders to maximize impact.

4. Data Collection and Evaluation:
Design and implement data collection and evaluation strategies to assess the effectiveness and impact of projects. Analyze project data and outcomes to inform decision-making and program improvement.

5. Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare regular progress reports and presentations for internal and external audiences. Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of project activities and results.

6. Team Leadership and Development:
