About Research Administration Services
The Emory School of Medicine's six sponsored Research Administration Services teams are dedicated to supporting research administration services for School of Medicine Departments. Teams provide expertise in the compliance and administrative requirements of the sponsored research lifecycle. Our goal is to provide quality support to faculty, act as a liaison with Emory University’s Office of Research Administration (ORA), and provide guidance and resources needed to facilitate sponsored research.
Research Admininstration teams ensure that faculty receive continuous and superior pre- and post-award research administration support to foster continuous growth in extramural funding to support their extraordinary and innovative research endeavors. We are committed to providing ongoing customer-focused, consistent, compliant, cost-effective, collaborative and continuously improved services to faculty. Our commitment aligns with the Emory University mission to create, preserve, teach, and apply knowledge in the service of humanity.
Teams understand the importance of reducing the administrative burden for faculty so they can remain focused on valuable research. In order to provide quality faculty service, Research Administration teams work to ensure that internal systems and processes are effective. Collaborative partnerships between Research Administration teams and faculty, built on mutual respect, are critical to success in the School of Medicine's research mission.

Proposal submission timeline
What we do
Pre-Award
School of Medicine Pre-Award teams collaborate with faculty to prepare and submit externally funded proposals. They also review funding opportunity announcements and provide requirement checklists and available templates of required documents for submission. They work with the Emory Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) to successfully route proposals.
Intent to Submit forms are now part of Insight (Intent to Submit job aid)
Post-Award
Once an Emory Notice of Award (eNOA) is received, School of Medicine Post-Award teams collaborate with faculty to successfully navigate and administer sponsored awards and accounts. They help monitor expenditures and assist with progress reports, no-cost extensions (NCE), and other prior approvals, once the award is funded. Teams work alongside Emory Research Grants and Contracts (RGC) and the Emory Clinical Research Office (ECRO) to execute financial aspects of award management including invoicing, financial reporting, and award closeout.
