Antiviral Research Society of India on World AIDS Day Awards

Drs. Vijayakumar Velu and Rama Amara received awards from the Antiviral Research Society of India on World AIDS Day (Dec 1, 2022).


Dr. Vijayakumar Velu received the Outstanding Research Scientist for HIV/AIDS Research Award.

The Lab of Jyothi Rengarajan

  • New hires: Postdoctoral fellows Stanzin Dawa and Prashant Bajpai joined the Rengarajan lab team
  • Promotion: Jyothi Rengarajan was promoted to Professor of Medicine-Infectious Diseases (tenured)
  • Award: Ana Enriquez received the Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (MMG) Program Scholar Award 
  • Other: IMP graduate student Louis Hopkins passed his qualifying exams with flying colors

Dr. Mirko Paiardini was promoted to Professor, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, School of Medicine, effective September 2022. He was also appointed Co-Director (together with Stefan Serafianos) of the CFAR Scientific Working Group “Next Generation Therapeutics”

Dr. David Weiss was elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Dr. Fikri Y. Avci received the Glycobiology Significant Achievement Award for 2022. He was also awarded an NIH/NIAID grant titled, "Molecular Mechanisms for Carbohydrate Presentation to CD4+ T cells by MHCII".
