Catherine earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, where she was awarded the prestigious Hesburgh-Yusko Scholarship that emphasizes community service and social justice. She was also a DJ with her own show on the school’s radio station. She returned to her home state to attend the University of South Carolina for medical school as a Pillar Scholarship awardee where she continued her commitment to service and social justice. Her research project identifying common health barriers associated with social determinants of health in a low-income urban community won a Patient Impact Award.
