Each class of residents has an annual retreat. During these events, patient coverage is maintained by the other classes, faculty, and fellows. Intern retreat is a two-day event held each fall in the North Georgia mountains, with plenty of time for class bonding and relaxation as well as personal and professional growth. The second- and third-year residents each get to enjoy a fun day off together for their retreats.
Meconium Cup
The annual Meconium Cup consists of a friendly game of kickball between the Emory pediatric and Emory OB/GYN residents. Friends and family are welcome, and a good time is had by all!
Pumpkin-Carving Contest
Each October, our residents participate in a pumpkin-carving contest, with the winner chosen at Grand Rounds. Each inpatient team submits their creation, and be warned—the competition is fierce!
Holiday Party
Every December, program administration hosts a holiday party and invites all residents and their families. Coverage of the inpatient services is provided by the fellows and faculty so all residents can attend. It is always a great time with good fellowship!
Piedmont Park Picnic
Each June, we say goodbye to our graduating seniors and hello to our new interns at a welcome event with food and family. This event provides a great chance for the incoming PGY-1s to meet their soon-to-be colleagues in a relaxed and inviting setting.
Other Events
Whether you want to cheer on the Braves, run a half-marathon, see live music, or go on a hike, there is always something going on to hang out with your co-residents!
Canvas Cafe
Quarterly, the residents can decompress and complete arts and crafts activities with members of our art therapy department.
