Emory Midtown

The Emory Midtown NICU is a level III nursery that services infants who are premature, affected by birth trauma, or have a congenital defects necessitating specialized care. The APPs working at Emory Midtown are trained to be especially astute in clinical assessments to evaluate for a wide variety of patient presentations and, subsequently, appropriately manage a wide variety of patient diagnoses. Emory Midtown is where most of our newly hired APPs start orientation and in accordance, APPs who work at Midtown are frequently involved with the onboarding of new team members and oversight of Junior APPs once transitioned from orientation.

Children's at Arthur M. Blank Hospital

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is the most specialized unit we serve. Infants at our Level IV Children's Hospital are admitted on referral from across Georgia for sub-specialty consultation, ECMO evaluation, and neonatal surgery. Infants at Children's often have rare or complicated diagnoses as a result of genetic or congenital anomalies. APPs working at AMBH not only manage the care of these critical patients, they also work closely with dozens of sub-specialists, surgical teams, and radiologists to ensure comprehensive care is provided to each infant.

Grady Memorial

Grady is Atlanta's only Level I trauma facility and APPs working in the level III NICU often manage highly critical situations in the delivery room related to maternal trauma. Grady also sees many women who have had limited or no access to prenatal care, leading to a high number of premature births, as low as 22 weeks' gestation who require specialized care. Additionally, the APPs working at Grady play a significant role in the education of physician residents and fellows. The APPs ensure oversight of residents and provide supportive guidance to teach physician learners neonatal specialty procedures.
