Why did you choose Emory PEM?
The people you get to work with are wonderful, and I knew I would get outstanding training and mentorship. I love taking care of the patients and families we care for and really appreciate getting the opportunity to work at both Arthur M. Blank and Hughes Spalding.
What is your favorite thing about living in Atlanta?

I am originally from Augusta, GA but have quickly become an Atlanta transplant! I have always loved playing golf (being from the home of the Masters, it was pretty much required), but my newest passion is rock climbing. My wife and I really enjoy trying new foods, whether that be eating out or whipping something up at home. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
Why did you choose Emory PEM?
When I was interviewing, I was drawn to the idea of being able to have the experience of working at both a large volume, tertiary care hospital as well as a smaller, more community feel hospital. I feel the combination of having shifts seeing patients independently mixed with shifts supervising residents and working on "managing the board" has really equipped me to become an attending.
What is your favorite thing about living in Atlanta?
My wife Hannah and I love how many restaurants there are in Atlanta. We've been here for two years now, and our list is still growing! From hole in the walls to Michelin stars, this city has it all!

I chose Emory PEM because of the unique blend of: -High volume, high acuity, and fast paced tertiary care ED -Independent coverage overnight at Hughes Spalding -World class adult ED/trauma training at Grady Hospital -Robust research support through the Emory School of Medicine -Welcoming and supportive attendings that treat you like a member of the division.

I was born and raised in the Detroit area, so I am a southern transplant! I was in the marching band at Michigan (go blue!) before medical school at Emory, then completed residency in Cincinnati. I live in Atlanta with my partner, Tyler, who is a research professor at Emory, and our dog, Ollie. In our spare time we like to explore Atlanta with Ollie, go to breweries, and make homemade pizza!
Why did you choose Emory PEM?
I went to Emory for medical school and absolutely loved it, so when a job opportunity popped up for my partner, it was a no-brainer that I would be headed back to Atlanta (and was very lucky to match here for fellowship!) The training in Atlanta gives you the best of both worlds - you get all that comes with being in an urban setting (trauma, high volumes, safety net general pediatrics complaints), but since we're the largest/most comprehensive children's hospital for several hours, we also get all of the rare stuff, too - including rural trauma. Our faculty are also incredibly supportive, and I truly look forward to going to work every day.
What is your favorite thing about living in Atlanta?
There is something for everyone here. All the perks of a big city (major sports teams, festivals, concerts, huge airport to get you anywhere you need to go), but the city is spaced out enough that you can find community where you live. Our little area of town feels completely separate from the city and has its own little festivals and gatherings. Atlanta is also very green - I've never lived in a city with so many trees! Given the climate we get to spend a lot of time outside.

I am originally from Miami, Florida. I did my undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering at Georgia Tech then medical school at USF in Tampa, FL. I completed pediatric residency at UConn in Connecticut then worked as a PICU hospitalist for a year at Boston Children's. I'm interested in global health, medical education, and equity within medicine. Outside of medicine, my hobbies include traveling, eating, yoga, running, dancing, and reading.
Why did you choose Emory PEM?
Overall, Emory felt like the best fit for me. It offered a variety of experience between the large academic center and the community ED setting. There are also opportunities for me to further explore med ed, global health, and equity. Most importantly, I wanted to work with and learn from the people I met on my interview day.

Medical School: Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University Residency: Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
Tell us about yourself:
I am from the suburbs of Atlanta; I did my undergrad in North Carolina where I developed an interest in advocacy particularly for Spanish-speaking patients and patients who are members of the LGBTQ+ community. I came back to Georgia for medical school, and then completed my pediatrics residency in Philadelphia. I am also interested in quality improvement, especially with regard to the EMR.
Why did you choose Emory PEM?
Being from the Atlanta-area makes the pediatric population a special group for me! I also know that I will get exposure to a wide variety and breadth of patients and complaints. I am also excited to practice PEM in a less-resourced hospital as compared to the larger teaching hospitals.
