Emergency Medicine

Welcome to the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University!

The Emory University Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is comprised of diverse and inclusive faculty and staff made up of pediatric emergency medicine and urgent care physicians, advanced practice providers and the entire spectrum of trainees. We run highly competitive fellowship training programs in pediatric emergency medicine, ED ultrasound, and urgent care.

The division staffs two hospitals, Hughes Spalding and Egleston of Grady Healthcare and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Egleston is the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center in the state of Georgia and Hughes Spalding is the regional pediatric safety net hospital. Both serve an extremely diverse patient population with over 120,000 pediatric emergency department annual patient encounters.

We run a robust research program serving as a site for the Pediatric Emergency Care Advanced Research Network (PECARN). Academic areas of interest by some of our faculty include  (among many others): global health, injury prevention, quality improvement, pediatric ultrasound, sickle cell care and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

We also have major collaborations and opportunities with Georgia Tech University, Morehouse School of Medicine, CDC, and the Marcus Autism Center.
