Department of Medicine Research Resources

Through the Department of Medicine Office of Research, many resources are available to support, guide, and advance Department of Medicine faculty and trainees’ careers in research, including those who focus on health services. These resources include funding opportunities, research-related events, tools, as well as research administration services.

Department of Surgery Faculty Core Services

The faculty core services within the Department of Surgery provide staff support for faculty activities, efforts, and initiatives that correspond to the academic, clinical, and research components of the department’s mission. These resources include clinical trial assistance and centralized resources to support data analysis projects, including quality, financial, patient population, and statistical analyses.

Georgia Clinical and Translational Science Alliance

The Georgia Clinical & Translational Science Alliance (Georgia CTSA) is an inter-institutional magnet that concentrates basic, translational, and clinical research investigators, community clinicians, professional societies, and industry collaborators in dynamic clinical and translational research projects.

The Georgia CTSA is part of the Clinical and Translational Science Award program—supported by the National Center for Advancing Translational Science—and represents a partnership between Emory University, Morehouse School of Medicine, Georgia Tech, and the University of Georgia. A wide variety of services, including informatics, recruitment, study design and conduct, and community engagement, as well as pilot grant opportunities are available to investigators through the Georgia CTSA.

Biostatistics and Collaboration Core and the Emory Integrated Core Facilities

In collaboration with the School of Medicine, the Biostatistics and Collaboration Core can provide statistical and bioinformatics analysis for research, assistance with study design, and collaboration on grant proposals at Emory. Additional services include database development, implementation, and maintenance.

The National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network

Emory is also a partnering site for the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) PCORnet through Emory's Health Services Research Center partnership with the OneFlorida+ clinical research network, which unites researchers, clinicians, patients, and stakeholders across Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Researchers can propose to utilize the PCORNet regional and national data for retrospective and prospective research studies.

Veteran’s Affairs

The VA Atlanta Healthcare System provides veterans with outstanding health care, trains the nation’s future health care providers, and conducts vital medical research. The system offers health care services across 22 locations, serving a 50-county area in northeast Georgia. These facilities include the Atlanta VA Medical Center in Decatur and 21 community-based outpatient clinics located in Atlanta, Blairsville, Brookhaven, Carrollton, College Park, Covington, Flowery Branch, Decatur, East Point, Jasper, Lawrenceville, Marietta, Newnan, Rome, Smyrna, and Stockbridge.

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

As the only freestanding pediatric healthcare system in Georgia, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) is the trusted leader in caring for kids. The not-for-profit organization’s mission is to make kids better today and healthier tomorrow through more than 60 pediatric specialties and programs, top healthcare professionals, and leading research and technology. As one of the largest pediatric clinical care providers in the country, it manages more than one million patient visits annually at three hospitals, Marcus Autism Center, the Center for Advanced Pediatrics, urgent care centers and neighborhood locations. Consistently ranked among the top children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta has impacted the lives of kids in Georgia, across the United States and around the world for more than 100 years thanks to generous support from the community.

Grady Memorial Hospital 

Grady Health System has been a cornerstone of Atlanta’s medical care since 1892, continually evolving to meet the needs of the region. Known as one of the nation’s top trauma centers, Grady also offers expert care in specialties like cardiology, neurology, oncology, urology, and primary care through its facilities. With physicians from Emory and Morehouse medical schools, Grady delivers cutting-edge treatment, innovative research, and medical training, while maintaining its commitment to compassionate, high-quality care for the underserved of Fulton and DeKalb counties in addition to the residents of metro Atlanta and Georgia.

RSPH Department of Health Policy and Management

The Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM) is committed to advancing health care in the U.S. by addressing disparities in access, cost, and delivery. Through groundbreaking research and rigorous training, HPM empowers the next generation of public health leaders to drive policy change, advance health services research, and create a more effective health care system for everyone.

RSPH Department of Behavioral, Social, & Health Education Sciences 

Because community and societal factors influence everything about health, the Department of Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences (BSHES) strives to better the health of all people through research, policy, and practice that improve social conditions and advance equity. BSHES faculty are drawn from diverse disciplines—including psychology, epidemiology, genetics, and history—providing students with unparalleled mentorship and learning opportunities.
