Team science is a collaborative effort to address a scientific challenge that leverages the strengths and expertise of varied professionals, who may be in different fields. This award celebrates the Department of Medicine’s (DOM) culture of collaboration by recognizing research teams that demonstrate innovative and impactful advances in science and high quality, productive teamwork.
Deadline
The deadline for all faculty awards nominations is June 26, 2026.
Eligibility
The Principal Investigator(s) must be a regular full- or part-time Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor with a primary appointment in the DOM who leads a team of research professionals (e.g., graduate students, trainees, research coordinators, post-doctoral fellows, research nurses, etc.) and/or collaborates with other faculty to advance science in their field. Teams are eligible unless they have received this award within the previous 3 years. Only current team members may be nominated.
Nominations
Teams may be nominated by another full-time or part-time faculty member or may self-nominate. Nomination for this award does not preclude nomination for other DOM awards in the same year.
Submission
- One-page narrative must address the following:
- The team's synergistic research work
- Notable scientific and/or clinical impact of the research
- Contributions of each current team member and how they are integrated to support the research
- Optional: Innovation in teamwork (e.g., use of team-oriented collaborative tools, development of novel methods for team collaboration)
- Font Size: 11 pt font minimum
- Spacing: Single-spaced
- Margins: 1-inch margins on all sides
- Character Count: Approximately 3,500 characters (including spaces)
- Evidence of research output must be included, e.g. abstract, manuscript, poster, successful grant application’s abstract and/or aims page.
