The Atlanta Community Advisory Board (CAB) serves as representatives of our participant population.
By way of our CAB, the voices of the participants and the community are heard. CAB members are able to express the participants’ comments and concerns about the research, directly to the PI and study staff, helping facilitate changes that benefit the participants as well as the researchers. If you have any questions or concerns to relay to the Atlanta CAB, please email macswihsccs@emory.edu.

How Do I Join?
If you are interested in joining the Atlanta CAB, we encourage you to email macswihsccs@emory.edu to let a current CAB member and/or staff know of your interest. To be considered, you may be asked to submit a one-page letter of interest outlining your motivations, relevant experience in any current or past community-based events, and your background or connection to the research.
The CAB liaison will distribute the letter of interest to current CAB members and PIs, who will review and later vote on your candidacy. If there is an opportunity to join the local CAB, we will request a two-year term of commitment. That includes attending monthly meetings (in-person and virtual), where you will be updated on the study’s progress and challenges as well as any new research driven protocols the stem from MWCCS. As a CAB member, you may be asked to help the study team brainstorm ideas related to the recruitment of new participants and retention of current participants. You may also be asked to help the study team come up with creative ways to approach and inform the community, Community Based Organizations, and other key stakeholders about the study.
Your membership is voluntary, and members may resign at any time.
