Predictors of Antiretroviral Immunereconstitution Bone Loss - the Gut and the Microbiome
IRBL is an observational, Nigeria-based study examining the differences in bone loss respectively in persons who are a) living with HIV and have not taken treatment, but bone loss is due to the HIV virus, b) have started Antiretroviral therapy (ART), a combination of HIV medications, which can add to bone loss within 6 months of starting to take ART and varies from person to person, and c) persons living with HIV having age-related bone loss.

Periodontitis and HIV-Antiretroviral Therapy-Induced Immune Reconstitution Alveolar Bone Loss
This Nigerian-based study will explore the oral impacts of people living with HIV who are taking antiretroviral therapy. This study builds upon previous work (Predictors of Antiretroviral Immunereconstitution Bone Loss - the Gut and the Microbiome) that explores how the HIV virus and it's treatment contribute to different measurements of bone loss over time.

The overarching goal of EN-RTP is to enhance thecapacityof researchers focused on HIV/women’s health in Nigeria, with the aim of promoting health and wellbeing of women living with HIV.
StARR is a training program designed to address a nationwide shortage of physician scientistsand offers in-depth instruction in the fundamentals of clinical and translational research, as well as a robust, multidisciplinary mentoring program that is tailored to the specific needs of resident physicians; geared towards junior investigators interested in diverse women's health research.
