Emory University Hospital (EUH), located adjacent to the Emory University School of Medicine, offers extensive teaching opportunities in collaboration with housestaff and a variety of student learners. The hospital is equipped with 853 licensed beds (651 currently in service), staffed by 45 hospitalist physicians and 10 advanced practice providers (APPs). It features a closed intensive care unit (ICU) and dedicated nocturnist support. Emory University Hospital Midtown
Emory University Hospital Midtown (EUHM) is a large academic and community-based hospital located in the heart of Midtown Atlanta. It serves a diverse patient population with a wide range of complex clinical conditions. The hospital includes 529 licensed beds (459 currently in service) and is staffed by 54 hospitalist physicians and 16 advanced practice providers (APPs). It offers 24/7 specialty support, a closed intensive care unit (ICU), and dedicated full-time nocturnist coverage. EUHM provides robust opportunities for academic engagement, including teaching medical and physician assistant (PA) students and participating in a resident teaching service. Faculty and staff have ample opportunities to develop specialized interests in medical education, clinical care, quality improvement, and research.
Emory Decatur Hospital
Emory Decatur Hospital (EDH) is a large community hospital that has served the diverse population of Decatur for more than 50 years. EDH houses 419 licensed beds, more than 20 hospitalist physicians, six APPs, 24/7 specialty support, a closed ICU, and full-time nocturnist support. EDH is planning to expand in the coming year to meet the growing demand for inpatient services. EDH hospitalists participate in every major committee and are integral to the day-to-day function and structure of the hospital. There are many opportunities for community outreach, including indigent and transitional care, and there are also teaching opportunities with medical students and residents.

Emory Hillandale Hospital
Emory Hillandale Hospital (EHH) was built in 2006 to serve the community just east of Atlanta. The hospital was acquired by Emory Healthcare in 2018. EHH endeavors to serve the community and advocates for patients in an underserved area. EHH has 100 beds, including 15 closed ICU beds, and boasts one of the busiest EDs in the Emory Healthcare system, despite the hospital’s smaller size. The group is made up of 12 physicians and four APPs. Emory Hillandale is leading the way as the first hospital to bring the Apple and Epic collaboration to life, enhancing patient care through cutting-edge technology. In addition, opportunities are present for hospitalists interested in caring for the underserved and interested in QI, systems improvement, and innovative patient management.

Emory Johns Creek Hospital
Emory Johns Creek Hospital (EJCH), located in one of Atlanta’s fastest-growing suburbs, is a dynamic community hospital that provides care to a diverse and expanding patient population. The hospital features 167 licensed beds, with the Division of Hospital Medicine managing approximately 85% of the inpatient census. The team includes 23 hospitalist physicians and seven advanced practice providers (APPs), supported by a closed ICU model, full nocturnist coverage, and comprehensive 24/7 specialty support. The Division of Hospital Medicine at EJCH plays a critical role beyond clinical care, actively engaging in research, quality improvement initiatives, and the education of physician assistants. Notably, the hospital’s Chief Quality Officer is a hospitalist, fostering strong collaboration and alignment between frontline clinicians, staff, and hospital leadership. This integrated structure enhances patient care delivery, operational efficiency, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital
Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital (ESJH), the oldest hospital in Atlanta, is a community magnet hospital located in metro Atlanta. It serves a diverse patient population with a strong focus on geriatric care. ESJH houses 410 licensed beds (278 in service), 30 hospitalist physicians with 11 rounding teams, 24/7 specialty support, a close ICU, and full-time nocturnist support. At ESJH, there are numerous opportunities to participate in a QI project or become a member of a hospital subcommittee. There are also teaching opportunities with physician assistant students and pharmacy residents, as well as a robust family medicine hospital medicine residency elective.

Grady Memorial Hospital
Grady Memorial Hospital is the fifth-largest public hospital in the United States and serves as a premier Level I trauma center. Renowned for its diverse patient population and complex case mix, Grady operates with 953 licensed beds, a team of over 60 hospitalists, 14 advanced practice providers (APPs), a closed ICU model, and dedicated full-time nocturnist coverage. The Division of Hospital Medicine began providing patient care at Grady in July 2017, further strengthening the hospital’s commitment to high-quality, comprehensive inpatient services for the Atlanta community.
Atlanta VA Medical Center
The Atlanta VA Medical Center (VAMC) is a large academic hospital near Emory University Hospital dedicated to serving the nation's veterans. The Atlanta VAMC houses approximately 328 inpatient beds. Our division has more than 30 hospital medicine physicians, 8 hospital medicine nurse practitioners with 24/7 specialty support, and closed ICUs. Division of Hospital Medicine faculty frequently participate in the supervision and teaching of residents and students while attending on traditional academic medicine teams, combined with individualized direct patient care when rotating onto hospital medicine teams.
