Within the Division of Gynecologic Specialties, our team of pediatric experts, led by Dr. Nancy Sokkary, is dedicated to addressing the unique reproductive health needs of our youngest patients. - Birth Control for Medically Complex Patients: Tailored contraceptive solutions for patients with complex medical conditions.
- Congenital Anomalies: Management of birth defects of the reproductive tract, including vaginal agenesis, uterine abnormalities, labial hypertrophy, vaginal septum, and absent vagina and/or uterus.

Dr. Nancy Sokkary, MD

Dr. Nancy Sokkary is an esteemed faculty member at Emory University, holding joint appointments as Associate Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Since joining Emory in January 2021, Dr. Sokkary has been the Division Chief of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where she has led numerous initiatives to enhance patient care and clinical services.
Dr. Sokkary is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and holds a focused practice designation in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. She has a rich history of developing and directing comprehensive gynecologic services, having previously established and led similar programs at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and Mercer University/Navicent Health. Her leadership extends to creating collaborative networks for disorders of sexual differentiation and transgender adolescent medicine, significantly impacting patient care and education.
Throughout her career, Dr. Sokkary has been dedicated to advancing clinical protocols and educational curricula, ensuring the highest standards of care. She has also been actively involved in research and protocol development, contributing to evidence-based practices in pediatric and adolescent gynecology.
In addition to her clinical and administrative roles, Dr. Sokkary has been a pivotal figure in educating and mentoring the next generation of healthcare providers. As the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Rotation Director for Obstetrics and Gynecology residents, she has fostered an environment of learning and professional growth.
Dr. Sokkary's contributions to the field include the creation of patient education handouts for the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, participation in international research networks, and leading COVID-19 response protocols for obstetrics and gynecology services.
Her dedication to improving reproductive health care and her collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care make Dr. Sokkary a valuable asset to Emory University and the broader medical community.
