We recognize that resident and physician burnout is a growing problem that can have personal and professional consequences. We take this seriously and have made it a priority to ensure we are doing everything we can to maximize our residents' mental, physical and emotional wellbeing through the following programs:
- Resident Education and Wellness Committee
- A resident-led, faculty-advised committee that works closely with chief residents and program leadership to implement quality improvement programs designed to decrease burnout burden.
- Wellness Half Days
- A half-day free of clinic or administrative duties every three months designed to allow residents time to do anything from scheduling doctor's appointments to simply sleeping in.
- Town Hall Meeting
- Chief resident-led resident forums that occur every other month during didactics where residents provide feedback and suggestions about their training and learning environments.
- Annual Resident Retreats
- Wellness Didactics Curricula
- Lectures and activities geared towards increasing resilience.
- Balint Groups
- Access to Emory's Family Services and Assistance Program (FSAP)
- Service available to Emory employee's that offers a variety of resources including personal assistance finding a therapist based on your schedule and locations.
