Personally, I enjoy family medicine for its unique ability to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care while developing long-lasting relationships based on trust. I love that within family medicine you get the opportunity to explore preventative health as well as address complex issues, such as social determinants of health. Family medicine is also so diverse in practice, allowing me the freedom to follow my different passions within family medicine.
I chose Emory Family Medicine for a few reasons. The first was the program's commitment to diversity among residents and faculty. Additionally, I wanted to go to a program where I had the opportunity to work with patients from underserved groups. Emory also has many opportunities to learn a diverse set of skills, allowing me to become a well-rounded family physician. Finally, I wanted to live in a big city with fun things to do during my free time. During my interview, it became evident that Emory Family Medicine provided all of what I was looking for and much more.
