I chose Family Medicine because I can build relationships with and partner with patients to achieve the best health possible. I also like that family physicians provide care to every life stage. I had a public health career before medical school, which inspired me to become a physician to integrate public health principles into patient care. Family medicine is the best specialty for me to accomplish my goal of practicing community-based medicine.
I chose Emory because the faculty, staff, and residents were so welcoming during my interview, and I could tell it was a supportive environment. I wanted a training program with a diverse patient population and opportunities to promote health equity. I am originally from Atlanta and wanted to serve patients in my home community.
