I chose to pursue Family Medicine because of its focus on preventive medicine, patient education, long-term care, and building strong patient relationships. Being a primary care provider offers a tremendous opportunity to improve healthcare accessibility and make a positive impact on individuals and communities.
I specifically selected the Emory Family Medicine Residency Program for several reasons. Foremost, I recognized that it would provide me with a comprehensive education by exposing me to a wide range of clinical pathologies and diverse patient populations within the vibrant Atlanta community.
Furthermore, I was drawn to the Emory program due to the supportive and nurturing environment created by the faculty, staff, and residents. Their commitment to fostering a positive learning atmosphere, providing intentional mentorship, and fostering strong community connections resonated with my own values. The close ties between the program and the medical school also stood out, as it offered opportunities for active involvement in medical student education. During my in-person second-look experience, I had the opportunity to interact with the faculty, program director, and residents. They all exhibited an approachable and down-to-earth demeanor. The residents displayed diverse interests and were individuals I could envision developing friendships with.
In summary, the comprehensive education offered by Emory, the supportive environment, and the positive interactions with faculty and residents all culminated in my selection of Emory Family Medicine Residency Program as my number one choice.
