I picked Emory Family Medicine Program for a variety of reasons. I loved the fact that the program has a good track record with a strong presence in the community. I was very excited to learn about many clinical opportunities that the program offers at several training sites. Working in different practice settings would enable me to expand my knowledge and perspectives of how to practice medicine in diverse settings.
Another strength of the program that drew me near was unlimited opportunities for research. With access to numerous resources provided by Emory SOM and CDC, I would be able to work with leaders of public health/epidemiology, allowing me to impact the community at a higher level.
Additionally, I found the location of the program to be very attractive. Living more than a decade in Georgia, it is my dream to help the immigrant population of Georgia once I am done with training. During the interview, I learned that 60-70% of the program’s graduates have stayed in Georgia, and I wanted to follow in their footsteps as a Georgian.
Last but most importantly, all faculties, residents, and administrators I met during the interview were supportive, professional, sociable, and approachable. I truly felt as if I was at home and I knew that I would be happy to spend my next three years here. I look forward to helping patients of Georgia with these wonderful people.
