From forming long-lasting relationships with patients, caring for patients of all ages, and the vast array of clinical pathology that can be seen, I knew Family Medicine was for me. I have always admired how family doctors serve as gatekeepers on the frontlines of primary care. They also develop strong relationships with community resources and other specialties to provide and coordinate the best care for patients. Family Medicine offers many opportunities for mentorship, patient advocacy, and advancement of health equity.
The supportive and collaborative environment emanating from the residents and faculty during my interview day drew me to Emory Family Medicine. I could also gauge the strong importance of serving the underserved, community engagement/advocacy, mentorship, and wellness through my conversations with faculty. Emory provides many opportunities to learn, grow, and become the physician I aim to be for my community. Atlanta has been my second home for the past eight years, and I am honored to serve the community that has nurtured and taught me through these formative years!
