I chose Family Medicine because I wanted to focus on preventing and not reacting to disease. During college, I learned how important primary care was to address many of the chronic diseases facing so many in our country. I wanted to be a part of the solution and believe Family Medicine is the best field to do this. I also loved working with kids and adults in the outpatient setting, and Family Medicine allows me to pursue both passions.
I chose Emory because I absolutely loved the faculty and residents I met during my interview. Although we were interviewing through Zoom, I could sense the mutual support and care that everyone shared for each other. I also loved that the Emory Family Medicine Residency Program had the option to pursue a Health Services Research Track since I am passionate about public health research, specifically focused on health disparities. Emory’s program combines my passion for clinical medicine and research. Additionally, I was eager to return to Atlanta/Emory since I attended Emory for undergrad and spent some additional time in Atlanta after grad school working at the CDC.
