"I chose primary care because it offers the opportunity to help people navigate a complicated health system that too often confounds them. I chose family medicine for its historical role in advocating for necessary changes to that health system -- changes that emphasize continuity, proactivity, and transparency. I sought additional training in integrative medicine to balance my care plans with nonpharmaceutical treatment options and to emphasize lifestyle interventions. I am now two years into my current clinical role, well into the process of building my practice, and only just barely scratching the surface of what comprehensive primary care can be and can accomplish."
