"Prior to medical school, I worked as a teacher in a Title One school. While I certainly gained an appreciation for adolescent quirkiness and enthusiasm, I also realized that pediatricians are uniquely poised to walk alongside their patients through those difficult years, advocating, encouraging, and supporting. While in medical school, I saw first-hand how poor health affects a child’s quality of life. I worked in school-based clinics improving patient’s asthma management, ADHD, and depression treatment in order to help them reach their full potential.
My research has focused on improving care of adolescents by eliciting their perspectives on medical topics ranging from skin cancer to stimulant abuse. And throughout residency, I have worked to hone my primary care skills while bolstering my psychiatric and developmental peds experiences. This has led to developing both a parenting elective and outpatient pediatric psychiatry elective for the program. As an Atlanta native, it’s a lifelong dream to be home for residency and I look forward to a lifetime of practice as a primary care pediatrician serving the Georgia community.
