The four student societies convene to kick-off the new academic year in the School of Medicine courtyard and commons
White Coat Ceremony
Each fall, first year students and their families participate in the ceremony, at which students don physician garb for the first time and are welcomed to the medical community at Emory.
Cadaver Ball
Held in February, the infamous event includes all medical students and dinner and dancing
Hamilton E. Holmes Memorial Lecture
Annual lecture named in honor of the first African-American graduate of Emory University School of Medicine. Holmes later became a professor of orthopedics, associate dean at the school, and was named medical director of Grady Memorial Hospital. The lecture discusses topics of social justice, community engagement, access to care, and health disparities.
Match Day
This day in March could be considered the most exciting day in a medical student's journey through medical school. Match Day is the annual, nationwide pairing of graduating medical students with postgraduate residency training programs.
Residency Day
Explains the process of selecting a specialty for future residency training. Held in June, the event brings together program directors and career counselors to discuss strategies for matching into residency
Research Day
A day dedicated to the research conducted by seniors during the Discovery Phase of the curriculum
Senior Banquet
A tradition the week prior to commencement, the event provides a night for soon-to-be-graduates the time and opportunity to say thank you to their professors
