Principal Investigator
Meng Zhang, PhD
Meng Zhang, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology with a joint appointment in the Department of Human Genetics at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Zhang is a member of the Cell and Molecular Biology research program at the Winship Cancer Institute, and a full member of Cancer Biology in Graduate Division of Biological and Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Zhang has a multidisciplinary research background in both bioinformatics and molecular biology.

Research
The Zhang lab aims to develop novel therapeutic targets for prostate and genitourinary cancer by investigating the less-studied dark proteome in tumor cells originating from non-canonical transcription and translation activities. We are also interested in understanding the roles of non-coding DNA elements during disease progression and therapy resistance. Our goal is to identify regulatory mechanisms and novel RNA and protein species with translational potential. The lab integrates a variety of research approaches, including clinical genomics, CRISPR-based functional genomics, and molecular/cellular biology.
Publications
Dr. Zhang has published articles in high impact scientific journals including Nature Cell Biology, Genes & Development, and Cancer Research.

Join Our Team
We are seeking highly motivated postdocs, research specialists, and graduate students with strong interests in translational cancer research. Our projects will use high-throughput clinical and functional genomic approaches as well as focused molecular/cellular biology techniques to investigate novel molecular vulnerabilities of prostate and genitourinary cancer. You will lead independent projects, engage in multidisciplinary collaborations, and learn the widely desirable bioinformatics skills.
The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. degree (for postdocs) or a bachelor’s degree (for research specialists) in biology-related fields. Familiarity in molecular biology/genetics techniques is required. Experience with CRISPR screens and/or cancer biology is a plus.
Please send a cover letter with your CV to meng.zhang2@emory.edu to apply.
