In honor of this anniversary, the Department of Surgery is excited to announce our Centennial Grand Rounds Series, in which guest speakers will explore the history of each division within the department.

As part of the 100th anniversary of the Department of Surgery, we seek to honor the life and work of our dear friend and colleague, Dr. William C. Wood. Join us as we remember Dr. Wood and the legacy he imparted on Emory Surgery.

Emory Healthcare has completed the first patient case in the ARISE III clinical trial to treat a life-threatening heart condition, called acute type A aortic dissection, using an investigational ascending stent graft.

Presented by the Emory University Department of Surgery and the Aspiring Surgeons Program, the John E. Skandalakis Surgical Anatomy Teaching Competition was held on Wednesday, September 10th in the School of Medicine.

After a long COVID postponement, the event was re-ignited by Booth Vogel, Alexus Shaw and Ornella Pelissero, members of the Aspiring Surgeons Program, Emory’s medical student surgery interest group, and co-sponsored by the Center for Surgical Anatomy and Technique (CSAT) and the Medical Student Senate.
