Pediatric Infectious Diseases Division Overview
The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Division is at the forefront of combating infectious diseases in children, providing comprehensive, evidence-based care for a diverse range of pediatric patients. Our division specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a broad spectrum of infections, including but not limited to viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic diseases.
With a strong focus on both clinical excellence and research innovation, our team is committed to improving outcomes for children through cutting-edge clinical trials, vaccine development, and public health initiatives. We work in close partnership with local and global health organizations to identify emerging infectious disease threats and respond to the evolving needs of pediatric populations.
Additionally, the division is home to several ongoing research projects aimed at understanding the mechanisms of pediatric infectious diseases, improving therapeutic interventions, and developing novel vaccination strategies. By combining the latest advancements in molecular biology, immunology, and microbiology, we strive to provide targeted, effective treatments tailored to the unique needs of children.
Our faculty and staff are highly skilled in the management of complex infectious disease cases, including immunocompromised patients, basic and translational pediatric HIV, antimicrobial-resistant infections, Immunology of host defense response, and tropical diseases. We also offer specialized care in the areas of travel medicine and infectious disease consultation for other healthcare providers.
Beyond clinical care, the division places a significant emphasis on education and mentorship. Through partnerships with Emory University, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and local healthcare systems, we are actively engaged in training the next generation of pediatric infectious diseases experts. Our fellowship program is one of the premier programs in the country, providing hands-on experience, research opportunities, and advanced clinical training to medical professionals.
