- The Emory Clinical Informatics Fellowship Program is ACGME-accredited (Accreditation ID: 3221232001) and in the Clinical Informatics (Pediatrics) group.

- Both the Emory Clinical Informatics Fellowship and the Emory Department of Biomedical Informatics are members of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Academic Forum which provides benefits to fellows.
- The Program Director is a member of the AMIA Clinical Informatics Program Directors' (CIPD) Group.
Core Curriculum
Rotations occur in 4-week blocks throughout the year with a total of 13 blocks per year.
The fellowship program follows the core curriculum provided jointly by the American Board of Preventive Medicine and the American Board of Pathology.
Core Rotations (First Year of Fellowship)
- Block 1: Welcome to Informatics Boot Camp
- Gain access to computer systems across all campuses
- Complete Epic Builder Training
- Get introduced to faculty
- Start discussing research projects
- Blocks 2-4: Biomedical Informatics Fundamentals, Decision Science and Human Factors Engineering (Context: Inpatient and Emergency Medicine)
- Blocks 5-7: Clinical Documentation, Improvement Science and Leadership (Context: Ambulatory)
- Blocks 8-10: Data, Analytics and Innovation (Context: Critical Care, Anesthesiology and Surgery)
- Blocks 11-13: Information Systems and Interoperability (Context: Laboratory and Radiology)
Courses in the Department of Biomedical Informatics (Both Years of Fellowship)
During the fellowship, fellows are required to take courses from the Department of Biomedical Informatics faculty. These courses provide rigorous training as part of preparation for research within clinical informatics. These include:
First Year of Fellowship
- BMI 500: Introduction to Ethical Data Science and Informatics (Fall Semester)
- BMI 510: Biostatistics for Machine Learning (Spring Semester)
Second Year of Fellowship
- BMI 534: Introduction to Machine Learning (timing varies)
Fellows are graded on their performance in the same manner as Emory graduate students.

Research and Independent Curriculum (Second Year of Fellowship)
The second year of fellowship focuses on research and ongoing clinical projects through an independent curriculum. Fellows work with the program director to develop an individualized schedule of activities.
