Program Overview
The Emory Cognitive Programs Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry (BNNP) Fellowship will have two options for training: a 12-month clinically-focused fellowship and a 24-month option with both clinical and research focus. The program has an outstanding group of core faculty with decades of experience in the cognitive neurology field. The group's strong clinical and research background provides opportunities for learning across the clinical care and research spectrum: basic science, translational and clinical trial (industry sponsored and investigator initiated). The Emory University School of Medicine and Center for Neurodegenerative Disease, Emory Rollins School of Public Health and Georgia Tech affiliated Biomedical Engineering Department provide a rich environment for fellows to engage with specific research projects and establish collaborations to shape a fellow’s career path. The academic clinical practice in the Emory Cognitive Clinic provides an environment for training in cutting edge diagnostics, models of care, delivery of novel therapeutics and recruitment for clinical trials, all of which are important for independent practice.
The supporting faculty represents a range of specialties and subspecialties including geriatric psychiatry, movement disorders, neuropsychology, neuroradiology, neuroimmunology, ataxia, epilepsy, sleep medicine, genetics counseling and stroke rehabilitation along with programs unique to the Emory system like the Emory Cognitive Empowerment Program and Integrated Memory Clinic (a comprehensive clinic for patients with dementia). There may also be opportunities to interface with the Georgia Memory Net, a state funded program with established memory assessment clinics across the state. Overall, the Emory Cognitive Programs Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry fellowship will serve as a first in class training program for the state of Georgia and southeastern United States.
