Preference will be given to US citizens and Permanent Residents. This requirement is necessary for eligibility to NIH-sponsored training grants.

Electronic Residency Application Service and National Resident Matching Program
Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship
Our program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) provided through the Association of American Medical Colleges. ERAS will be used to transmit applications, letters of recommendation, transcripts, and other supporting credentials from applicants. For further information on this process, please view the website.
The following items must be in your ERAS Common Application before your application will be reviewed:
- 3 letters of recommendation, one must be from your current PD.
- USMLE exam results (at minimum, steps 1 and 2 (both CS and CK))
- Personal statement
Our program strives to do holistic reviews of all applicants.
All PCCM trainees are selected through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). In order to participate in this program, you must register through this service, available online.
Trainees desiring to apply for the straight Critical Care Fellowship should select the “critical care track” option before submitting their applications. For more details about the interview process, please view the Critical Care Fellowship page.

Interviews
Once the application and letters of recommendation are submitted, you may be invited for an interview. Interviews are held on Wednesdays and Fridays between August and November.
To ensure a uniform interview process that is equitable to all applicants, our fellowship interviews for applicants in the 2025 Match will be held exclusively virtually.
During the interview, there will be an opportunity to meet with program and division leaders, key faculty members, as well as current trainees. This schedule allows candidates to learn about the program and its philosophies from both faculty and fellows. Please let us know in advance if there are any specific faculty members that you have a particular interest in meeting. Also, feel free to let us know if you have any specific issues (i.e. spouse employment, schools, etc.) that need attention on your interview day.
