Elizabeth Leslie selected for prestigious PECASE Award

JANUARY 2025
Elizabeth Leslie, PhD, associate professor of human genetics, was one of 400 recipients named to receive a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on outstanding scientists and engineers early in their careers.
Established by President Clinton in 1996, PECASE recognizes scientists and engineers who show exceptional potential for leadership early in their research careers.
Dr. Leslie's research combines genomics with deep phenotyping to understand the genetic architecture of craniofacial birth defects and fundamental questions of phenotypic heterogeneity, penetrance, and variable expressivity. In addition to identifying new loci for nonsyndromic cleft lip and palate, she is one of the leading experts on Van der Woude syndrome, the most common Mendelian clefting syndrome.
