Taylor Isaacson grew up in Marietta, GA. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 2020 with a major in Biology and a minor in Spanish. She was introduced to the field of genetic counseling during a lecture presented on campus during her junior year of college.
After graduation, Taylor worked as a medical scribe for a pediatric ophthalmologist for two years. During this time, she also completed a genetic counseling internship at Advocate Genetics focusing on reproductive medicine. Following her time in pediatric ophthalmology, she began working as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Emory Winship Cancer Institute, where she obtained informed consent and organized sample collection for the national biorepository ORIEN/Total Cancer Care. She transitioned into the role of Genetic Counselor Assistant at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta within their hematology/oncology team. She primarily supported the Genetic Counselors in the Cancer Predisposition Team at Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. While Taylor had decided several years prior to pursue genetic counseling, she believes her time as a GCA provided her valuable experience that will help her succeed in the future as a working genetic counselor.
In her free time, Taylor enjoys hiking with her husband and two dogs, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, and reading as many books as possible. She is very excited to be a part of Emory’s program and would love to talk with prospective students if they have any questions about the program or the application process.
